The Big Latch On and Family Weekend

     What a day!
We were up and moving around a little earlier than typical for a Saturday morning today. I was determined to make it to The Big Latch On event since we had one locally. This was an event to attempt to break a world record for the number of simultaneously breastfed children. It was started in New Zealand and is always done during World Breastfeeding Week; last year there were 8,862 children breastfed during the event.

After we checked in we took Big Brother to play on the nearby park. I forgot all 3 of my carriers at home so I carried Froggie around while he ran around playing. It was nice to be able to keep an eye on him but give him space to explore on his own too. He loved the ladders and climbed them so well. At one point he told me not to help him because he was being careful. He played in the ship and made some new friends. He even found a frog for his sister and asked if he could sit on it - frogs have become pretty big for us.

Then it was time to feed Froggie. She ate briefly before the event but she never passes up the opportunity for milk! From 10:30am - 10:31am she ate and was counted to see if a record could be broken. At 6 months old Froggie has already participated in 2 events to challenge world records - todays event and The Great Diaper Change a couple months ago. The event was great aside from the fact that Big Brother decided today was a good day to start wandering and ran away from us twice. We hung out for awhile and did the chinese auction and I bought an awesome new shirt!

After The Big Latch On we headed over to the reserve center for family day. This is mostly so adults can stock up on free materials and suffer death by power point regarding any military related topic you can imagine. We got some new coloring books, stickers and even some board books regarding being separated from a parent. The best thing we walked away with this afternoon though were deployment readiness boxes for each of the kids with a cute bear in it. The bear has dog tags and other accessories but the kids seemed to enjoy them "as is" out of the box.
We head back to the reserve center tomorrow for another family day. We were promised this would be more "pinic-like" and there will be fun activities going on.

They love the bears!

Our third event for the day was a "moving party" for my friend. She'll be leaving in a week and so there was one last organized shin dig tonight. (I will be sending her hate messages if I don't see her again in the next 6 days) It was a nice evening and seeing a  lot of faces I don't get to see too frequently was nice. My sister stole Big Brother's hat because the sun was in her eyes and it actually fit! Big Brother also snuggled up with Bella for a bit while watching a movie.
