This is Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Much like the rest of this month today was filled with festivities. This morning was our party at school and this evening was Trick-or-Treating. This afternoon was nice and Hubby and my mom were able to come see the kids in their parade.

The weather this evening was horrible and so we walked in the wind and rain to my aunt's house a few streets over and then walked back. The only really decent picture I got of Trick-or-Treating was the one that was taken before we headed out.

Zoo Boo 2013

Since the weather doesn't look so great for the rest of the week we decided to head to Zoo Boo at our local zoo this evening. I did some running around after work and picked up dinner so we could eat dinner in Hubby's office and get geared up.
Big Brother was REALLY excited to dress up as Iron Man though the promise of the zoo AND candy to a 2 year old pretty much did it before Iron Man was even involved. We've gone in a the past with Big Brother but I think this year was, by far, our best year. The decision to go tonight was a last minute one after I looked at the forecast. Despite trying to have everything packed up we were missing a few things. We picked up some lighted bracelets and Big Brother picked out a mask for me.
We ran through the drive thru on our way to the center and had dinner in Hubby's office while everyone got changed and ready to drive down the street. It was a struggle to find parking and we arrived less than half an hour after Zoo Boo started. I took some pictures of the kids while we waited for Hubby to come over and meet us from the other parking area.
Upon entry you're given a bag and tickets which you turn in for treats. Though Froggie wasn't supposed to get anything the nice women at the gate gave her one. We walked around and collected our treats while checking out the animals. We also rode the carousel and train before the wind picked up and the rain started. We got everyone packed up just as the rain began to fall a little harder.
Overall it was a great night and my little Iron Man even got up and danced with a bunch of kids and did the Cha Cha Slide! He even did well with the left and right directions.

More Fall Fun

Today we headed out in hopes to beat the rain and check out some of our local fun. We weren't really successful and ended up at the pumpkin farm in some light rain. Big Brother didn't seem to mind and he liked wandering around while Froggie slept in her car seat. I was really sad that she was sleeping, I really wanted to take her picture in the pumpkins with her new pumpkin hat on.
Luckily this was a local pumpkin patch without all the draw of the big pumpkin patches with slides and there is no cost to get in so we'll try again at some point before the end of the season.

Clowning Around

Well, we're still a single car family and that means that between leaving work and picking up Hubby I have to entertain Big Brother and Froggie. We've been going to the zoo and looking at a few animals before playing at the play ground until either the zoo closes or Hubby is finished working. It's worked well and the weather has been beautiful... until today! A few days ago the temps were in the 80's and I'm pretty sure we didn't get out of the 50's. It was also pretty rainy and just wasn't good weather for an outdoor activity like the zoo.
So we went to the library instead! Big Brother LOVES to read and I'm sure if he were able to just pick book after book he would have someone read to him all day! There are several books that he can almost recite verbatim and he will happily sit and look at a book by himself whether he knows the story or not.
I had several books on hold for work and we had books to drop off as well. There were some issues with my holds and they hadn't arrived yet but Big Brother picked out 5 books for himself and probably would have picked out more if given the opportunity.
When we checked out Big Brother was given a clown nose (which he was a little afraid of at first, until I told him Froggie was going to wear it anyway...) and a ticket. The ticket is good for a free children's ticket to the circus which is coming next month! We may or may not go depending on how things go with Hubby going to school, we'll have to wait and see.

Cutest clown I know!

A Wild Celebration

Today we headed out  into the rainy weather to go to a birthday party at the zoo. As you can probably imagine there weren't very many people at the zoo in the downpour and we tried to stay as dry as possible as we walked through the zoo to the party area. We spent a few minutes playing around in the children's area and looking at the animals within the building before we headed into the party room to kick off the celebration. First we walked to the carousel and went for a ride before returning for the rest of the party.

Big Brother had a hard time deciding

Not so sure about it moving

We had pizza and saw some animal visitors. The kids really seemed excited about the animals and they didn't bring in anything too exotic (a ferret, hamster and chinchilla) so no one was really fearful of them. Froggie even pet the hamster and chinchilla!

Froggie got to pet the chinchilla too!

Then it was time to sing to the birthday girl and have some cake before opening presents.

On our way out of the zoo we got side tracked by the orangutans who just happen to be an indoor exhibit. Big Brother has always liked to see all the animals so it was nice to be able to go to the zoo and see at least a few animals. Since it was so quiet the orangutans weren't hiding like they normally are and the kids got to play hide and seek with the "baby" orangutan. It was fun to watch them and it was really neat to have some personal interaction with the animals.

Ollie really liked Froggie

I almost forgot to mention that my sister and her fiancĂ© recently came back from Walt Disney World and had brought home some little things for the kids. Froggie got a new stuffed Rapunzel Doll which she has been playing with and chewing on since she got it. Big Brother got a Lightening McQueen football, some candy, and a picture of my sister and her fiancĂ© with Lightening and Mater at the park for him to hang in his room.
They went trick or treating while they were down there so Hubby and I inherited a bag full of candy. While digging through the bag looking for something I found a baby peep! I LOVE peeps... I don't necessarily like to eat them but I think they're fun and really cute so I was pretty pumped to find 3 little mini peeps in the bag.
