Hopping Down the Bunny Trail

To kick off our weekend we decided to head to the mall for their Easter trail of treats and to meet the Easter Bunny (since this was his big kick off for bunny pictures). We waited to see the bunny before doing our walk to collect some candy in our Easter buckets. Big Brother was so excited and Froggie kept peeking through the gate at the giant egg and would point and get excited again. She was so cute, even the photographer from the mall took some pictures of her!

too cute!

This all ended as soon as we went in to see the bunny though. Big Brother wanted to sit on the decorations and Froggie cried every time Hubby put her down. We ended up just saying hi to the bunny and going to follow the line with the promise that if the kids were able to listen well while they collected their treats.

The kids had fun collecting their treats and we did end up going back to try a picture with the bunny with the understanding that there would be no sitting on the decorations. Froggie cried but Big Brother sat so nicely with the bunny. I don't really buy into perfectly posed pictures, I've never cared if my kids have a binky or a toy to keep them calm and I feel that needed to be said as an explanation as to why I paid for a picture of my son sitting so nicely with the bunny while his sister cried on the bunny's lap. That being said, here's the picture of the kids with the bunny:

A Saint Patty's Celebration

After this morning's 5K and some relaxation this afternoon we headed over to our church's Saint Patrick's Day party. There were irish dancers, music, and corned beef and cabbage (the kids had hot dogs of course) as well as auctions/prizes.
Big Brother was SO excited to wear his new green hat an he had a ton of fun watching the dancers and then dancing for the rest of the evening. He didn't want to leave when the party was over! We also took home some prizes from the chinese auction, Big Brother won an Iron Man figure while Froggie won a princess bag and I took home a basket with candles, soaps and sprays.
The party was a lot of fun and it was fun to watch the kids while they danced and ran around!

Personal Best

43:13.9 minutes is what the clock said when we crossed the finish; with a chip time of 42:38.2 we finished our first 5K of the year with our best time yet! The kids stayed with my mom while Hubby and I drove up to the Peninsula to meet our friends and run the 5K portion of the Saint Patrick's Day Distance Festival.
Can't wait to see how Hubby and I improve over the course of the year - we're hoping to achieve our goal of running 12 races this year.

Happy Valentine's Day!

This morning we decked the kids out in they're Valentine's Day apparel and set them up on the couch to open up their goodie bags. We had gotten a book, cookies, pretzels and chocolates for each of the kids and then had bought The Jungle Book for them to share. Froggie also got her new hat this morning because I finally had time to finish it!

Later this morning Hubby came into work for Big Brother's classroom party, which just so happened to be combined with my classroom for today. While we were waiting to start Hubby went in to say hi to Froggie and she didn't want him to put her down so he took her with him out to Big Brother's party. It was a lot of fun and I think Froggie had a lot of fun hanging out with Hubby and crashing the party.

I'm not sure if we are doing anything tonight (other than watching The Jungle Book) and Hubby and I exchanged our gifts last night since he was impatient and couldn't wait for me to open my gift today.
One year ago we had our first trip to Shriner's Hospital with Froggie. There were no sonograms or X-rays at that visit and we had just met Froggie's doctor. She was tiny (13 days old) and her doctor did the same hip check on her that the pediatrician's in the hospital and or family doctor had all done previously; he came to the same conclusion as her other doctor's - something was not right. So we scheduled an appointment for a sonogram and headed out, we were given a Valentine (her first!) that was made by a local elementary school student and a stuffed bear that was as big as she was! Little did I know that with that appointment began our journey towards her treatment, this blog and my desire to spread the word about Hip Dysplasia.

Bring on Christmas!

This afternoon we headed to one of our local theaters where they were having a large craft show. While we were there we attempted to visit Santa. Big Brother has gone from being ambivalent to Santa, to screaming in his presence, to now liking Santa but not wanting to get close to him.
Froggie on the other hand, who normally melts down if someone other than Hubby or I have her (if we're an option) snuggled right up to Mrs. Claus!
I guess we'll be working a little at removing the fear of Santa. Especially since we will be seeing a lot of him in the next few weeks!
