A Day in the Life of a One Year Old Princess

Froggie started her first week as a 1 year old off by being woken from her nap to be sung to by all of the 1, 2, and 3 year olds at school and to have a birthday cookie. She seemed very wary at first of all the noise, hat and candle.

Happy Birthday to you.

Happy Birthday dear Froggie.

Big Brother wanted a picture with Froggie

Earlier in the morning though Froggie's teacher had sent for me to come down the hall to ask me if she had been having nose bleeds. Poor muchkin fell and hit her nose on a toy and had a little nose bleed. It looked like her nose was bleeding ALL day though because she had a runny nose and even though the bleeding had stopped whenever her nose ran it was tinted red.

This is what her nose looked like most of the day.

To top it all off Froggie had her 1 year old doctors appointment. We waited in the waiting room for almost an hour then we were with the nurse and doctor for another 45 minutes or so. Then after her exam (which went really well) we had to wait for two separate nurses to come in, one to draw blood and another to administer her vaccines. I can't believe how brave she is - she didn't cry or even flinch when they drew blood to check her iron levels but she was pretty upset by the other vaccinations. She checked in at 18lbs and 32 inches long, I love my little peanut!

Where did my baby go?

In less than 12 hours Froggie will officially be 1 year old! Here are some last shots of Froggie as an 11 month old.

We Have a Climber!

This was what I turned my head to see yesterday while sitting in the living room with Froggie. She's taken to "walking" around the coffee table so I didn't think much of her going past me until I heard Big Brother's scooter get knocked over. As soon as I looked I knew she was up to no good, and of course I snapped a picture before I got her down. Later on she climbed the TV stand and she climbs the stairs pretty well. Overall she does a better job moving vertically than walking, we're in for trouble!

4 Months Harness Free

I'm SO happy to say that Froggie has been harness free for the last 4 months! August 11th was her last night to wear her harness to bed. Since then she has had a second clear X-ray and mastered being mobile. She doesn't appear to have any lasting issues stemming from her hip dysplasia and time in the harness though I can't say that for certain since I'm not her doctor but nothing seems odd.
She has started trying to stand by herself, walking while holding hands (sometimes), climbing the stairs and trying to step away from things! It's so exciting to watch her do the things we weren't sure would be easy for her come naturally!

Standing!

Climbing the stairs!

Here We Go Steelers!

I'm posting a little early today because I want to be able to watch the game this evening without worrying that I haven't done a post. Posting has become a part of my daily routine and I at least start a post every day (though on really busy days they don't seem to ever get published). This started as a means of coping with Froggie's diagnosis and has stuck as something I need to do daily.
Anyway... I would like to say that the ENTIRE family is decked out in Steelers gear for today! Hubby, who honestly is more of a fantasy football fan than a fan of any particular team, has told me since day one that he's a Bills fan. This bothers me because A.) he watches more Steelers games than any other team and B.) the Bills black out Steelers games all the time because of where we live so I just dislike them. However, Hubby must be growing fond of the black and gold (or got sick of being the only one in the house in different colors) because he put on the only Steelers shirt he owns. Granted it is from the Steelers 5K and not REALLY a football shirt but it does say "Steelers" on it and it's the right colors!

Froggie and Hubby in their Gear

One a Froggie related note - she's doing more standing! We brought up an old toy of Big Brother's last night that is a table for kids to stand an play at. She tried really hard to pull herself up on it and almost toppled it over so Hubby held it while she played. She had a lot of fun and I'm sure will be getting into more stuff very soon!

Almost pulled over the table

Happy Froggie

Really getting the hang of playing

Here Comes Trouble

Froggie is getting bigger every day and she's doing SO much now! She's really working on crawling and every time she gets up on her knees I expect her to just bolt across the room.
Today while she was playing in her pack and play she decided that she wanted to check out what was going on and pulled herself to standing! I guess it's time to lower the pack and play....
