Saturday Night Fun

Saturday night we headed up to Hubby's parents house to hang out with family. Hubby's sister and fiance are getting married this coming saturday and they came in a week early to make sure that everything was in order. While we were there Big Brother found our stash of instruments that is being stored there and had fun playing with my old trumpet. He wanted to bring it home, but we packed it back up and left it there to be played with another time.
He actually did a lot better with it than I thought he would. Froggie also finally warmed up to Hubby's sister and let her hold her for a little bit. She even smiled! It takes a little bit, especially for an 8 month old who isn't familiar with you.

Big Brother also went a WHOLE WEEK with no accidents and waking up dry! So to reward his amazing progress and remind him that he's a super hero he got an Iron Man figure! He played with him and his Spiderman figure for a little while but ultimately went back to his Cars. He's definitely in love with his cars...

I Did It!

(9/18/2013) Well we're onto day 2 of wearing big boy undies! Big Brother woke up on Tuesday and refused to put on his pull ups to go to school. I decided to just go with it and let him wear his regular underwear since sooner or later it was going to need to happen. I figure if he REALLY wanted to wear his cloth undies that he would try REALLY hard not to mess them up!
I was (read as still am) nervous about the drive to and from work since it takes us approximately 20 minutes to get there unless we get stuck behind school buses (which happens a lot since we drive past a total of 4 schools on our way there) so he's stuck in the car with no access to the potty the entire time we're in the car. So far he's done really well on the way to school and he's been dry all day even with going into pull ups for nap time he would wake up dry and change.
Today my coworker came in with "I Did It!" stickers. Big Brother got one for his good job wearing big boy undies all day!

Once we got home and had dinner we decided to play with a slinky for awhile (they really amuse 2 year olds AND 7 month olds!). This is our Italian Greyhound Jasper sulking because he couldn't get down the stairs...

A Tiring Saturday

Today was a VERY busy day for our little family. Hubby had to work this morning and the kids slept in (till 9, which I know is not sleeping in to anyone other than a parent). I decided that if they woke up and I could get everyone dressed and fed we would go for a walk this morning; so by 10:30 we were ready to walk out the door and load up the jogging stroller.
While loading the stroller I decided that a walk wasn't good enough and that I was going to see if I could jog my route. I jogged more than a walked but jogging with a double stroller is a little more difficult than just jogging. I'm counting it as a win in my book since it's been a few years since I've ran and when I was running I was doing so on a treadmill in the gym. Big Brother and Froggie seemed to have a good time "going fast" and a lot of the people we passed commented on how happy and cute the kids were in the stroller.
After our "jog" we decided to play outside until Hubby was almost done working. Big Brother carted all his trains and cars out to play on his train table, he ran around the yard and played on his slide. He got a cookie from the neighbor and pushed Froggie in the swing. Froggie spent most of her time in the swing but did sit in the grass for a little which was an improvement from the last time she was sat down outside.

Happy Froggie

Swinging!

Trains and cars EVERYWHERE!

Big Brother wanted to swing too!

We headed inside and prepped lunch while Hubby was driving home and the Big Brother headed in to nap. Nap time was a bust though and Big Brother ended up just playing with his cars in bed for an hour and a half.
Once Big Brother was up we packed everyone up and headed to the zoo. The clowns were there today but we missed them by a few minutes! Hubby was thankful, he didn't really want to see the clowns today.

After the zoo we headed to visit Hubby's dad while his mom was at work. We had dinner with Grandpa and Froggie had some bonding time. Big Brother had a great time with his blackberries and got them ALL over.

Mmmm blackberries!

Big brother did all of this today in undies! We ditched the pull-ups (except for nap time) and he did great! by the end of the day both Big Brother and Froggie were passed out!

Family Weekend Part 2

Today was the second day of family weekend. We had a later start and Big Brother slept in a little. Once everyone was up, dressed and fed we headed up to the reserve center. When we got there they were setting up a giant bounce house and prepping lunch. We played a little in the two smaller bounce houses before having lunch. Froggie watched from her seat for a bit before going into the Ergobaby for the majority of the day.

There were some other events today as well. There was a treasure hunt for the kids, a dunk tank, crfts and some of the higher ranking individuals got "pied" in the face. There were 3 bounce houses in varying sizes. The largest one was an obstacle course and after a series of races by the adults Hubby and I each took Big Brother through twice and ended up with some minor vinyl burn.

'Did I mention that Big Brother has started doing REALLY well with the potty? He is typically not very good about leaving toys or activities but today he let us know a handful of times that he had to go and he even went poo away from home/school! We made a pit stop at the toy store on our way home and picked up a plane and a car for our big boy as well as a new "big girl carseat" for Froggie. Over all it was a fun weekend, but it was pretty exhausting
