I Scream,You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream!

It was finally nice enough for our first walk into town to get ice cream! The kids were so happy that we were going to get ice cream and I was happy that we got to be outside for more than the walk from the door to the car! Big Brother walked and held the handle on the stroller pretty well when we were close to the road and ran a little crazy when we were closer to our house. He used up a lot of energy and asked for ice cream with sprinkles when we got there.

She made this face with every bite she took!

SPRINKLES!

Froggie ended up grabbing her ice cream and then crying because her hands were cold. Big Brother told her over and over that she was ok and even offered to share his ice cream with her. For how crazy he is most of the time he's always surprising me with how sweet he is in situations you wouldn't expect from a 3 year old.
He walked and talked to Froggie on the way home and then tried explaining to me this crazy move Hubby taught him that's hard work. It kind of looked like a cross between a squat and some weird superhero pose. After the third or fourth time he did it I asked if I could take a picture and he agreed (which is rare).

Visiting Daddy

I had a dentist appointment today so afterwards we made a pit stop to visit Hubby in his office. The kids ran around and visited for a little bit before deciding that Hubby's desk was a nice place to hide and play. They didn't sit still for long but I thought it was adorable!

Refusal to Nap

Every so often one (or both) of my kids decide that they don't want to nap despite being exhausted. Usually this is Big Brother's deal and he fights napping and refuses to settle down until it is simply too late in the day to make him try any longer. Today was Froggie's day though and so she laid on the little couch with her cup, blankie and pony and watched Frozen while she relaxed.

Musician in the Making

I'm a firm believer in the fact that creativity fosters language development in children along with a better ability to express themselves. That being said, I work with one year olds and to go along with my previously stated belief I frequently let the kids play with a variety of art supplies (they LOVE paint!) and once a week they have some time to freely play with the rhythm instruments.
Like the rest of my kids at school Froggie LOVES when the instruments are out but seems to have a hard time deciding which one to play with!

Decisions… decisions...

My Little Pony… babies?

Hubby tends to work later than ideal for toddler bed times so when he's stuck in one of his offices and we have the ability to visit or go have dinner with him we do. It just so happens that there is a consignment store a few doors down from one of the offices he utilizes and this is typically the office we meet up with him at since it's closest to restaurants and our house. We're fortunate enough to be able to pick up things every so often and the kids honestly don't care that they used to belong to another little boy or girl.
Anyway, the last time we headed up to meet up for dinner we found a baby My Little Pony. Big Brother's love of the show apparently was infectious because Froggie gets equally excited when we turn it on. It was love at first sight for Froggie and she cuddled her pony and showed it off to hubby when we got back to his office. She even took it to school the following day, which I don't typically let the kids do but she was so stinking cute I couldn't make her leave it in the car. She carted it around the room taking care of it and showing (and sharing) it off to her friends at school.

Working Out With Froggie

Hubby decided to join in with me and buy a Fitbit to track his steps/distance/etc. After he set it up he decided to do a whole bunch of stuff his Flex wouldn't track, like push ups, because he was convinced it had a heart rate monitor… Anyway, Froggie decided to get up from where she was sitting, walk over to Hubby and climb on his back - with her cookie.

Frozen Party

Disney's Frozen came out today and Hubby picked it up on his way home today so after dinner we got into our comfy clothes and settled in to watch our new movie.

Happy with their present

They were hooked

She sat pretty well for a lot of the movie

we had a few of these left over from the other night.

How Big Brother finished the movie

In addition to it being Frozen's release date today is Hubby's sister's birthday, since she doesn't live close by the kids took a picture to wish her a happy birthday. Happy Birthday Aunt Amy!

Birthday wishes.

A Saint Patty's Celebration

After this morning's 5K and some relaxation this afternoon we headed over to our church's Saint Patrick's Day party. There were irish dancers, music, and corned beef and cabbage (the kids had hot dogs of course) as well as auctions/prizes.
Big Brother was SO excited to wear his new green hat an he had a ton of fun watching the dancers and then dancing for the rest of the evening. He didn't want to leave when the party was over! We also took home some prizes from the chinese auction, Big Brother won an Iron Man figure while Froggie won a princess bag and I took home a basket with candles, soaps and sprays.
The party was a lot of fun and it was fun to watch the kids while they danced and ran around!

Personal Best

43:13.9 minutes is what the clock said when we crossed the finish; with a chip time of 42:38.2 we finished our first 5K of the year with our best time yet! The kids stayed with my mom while Hubby and I drove up to the Peninsula to meet our friends and run the 5K portion of the Saint Patrick's Day Distance Festival.
Can't wait to see how Hubby and I improve over the course of the year - we're hoping to achieve our goal of running 12 races this year.

Tumbling, Bunnies and Music… OH MY!

We started out our Saturday as usual, we packed everyone up and headed to the Y for tumbling. This time around it has been a "parent free" class since kids were struggling to focus when their families were sitting against the wall. I popped in towards the end of his class to check on him after he fell off the bar, but as you can see he was just fine.

Then we had a snack and headed off to play with some bunnies! Every year a local photographer welcomes some bunnies into the studio to take some pretty unique pictures for Easter. Both kids fell asleep on the way there but weren't too grumpy when the woke up, especially once they met Mr. Checkers! They had fun playing with the bunny and having their pictures taken. I'm not sure what Big Brother liked best, playing with Mr. Checkers or the big bunny cookie he got when it was time to go!

Yummy cookies!

When we were done with pictures we weren't ready to head home just yet so we took the kids into our local music store. It had been a long time since I'd been in there and it looks quite a bit different but the kids were really excited. Big Brother and Froggie both loved looked at the drums. Froggie found a pair of bongos while Hubby set Big Brother up on an electronic drum set. He did surprisingly well and decided he wanted to take a pair of drumsticks home. Both kids also picked out a shaker shaped like an egg.
We've also been looking into enrolling Big Brother in lessons so that he can actually learn to play an instrument. He has such a love for music and all things creative so we toured the building and showed him some of the instruments that he would be able to play now. He showed some interest in the keyboards but it didn't last and he played with the drums for awhile. he was pretty interested in most of the brass instruments but they're a little too big for him at this point (and if he wants to learn later I still have trumpets and books from when I was in middle and high school). He seemed pretty interested in the violin and stated that he thought he would like to play one. So we filed that away and came home to show him some videos of kids and adults playing the violin. He still seemed pretty excited so I started looking into where he could take lessons. Nothing is set in stone and he may change his mind between now and this summer but it looks like he may be starting violin lessons in may!
